Our Story

Whitelock Community Farm began in 2010 when residents of Reservoir Hill came together to reclaim a vacant lot and turn it into a thriving urban farm. With the helping hands of hundreds of volunteers, neighbors transformed blight into beauty, scarcity into abundance. What started as a grassroots effort to grow food has become a powerful anchor for environmental and community stewardship.
Rooted in love for land and people, the farm has blossomed into more than rows of vegetables—it is a living classroom, a gathering space, and a force for food justice. Every seed sown at Whitelock carries the intention of nourishment: of body, of culture, of future.
Today, Whitelock Community Farm is a vibrant open space that grows food and activates community to promote social equity in Reservoir Hill and beyond. We honor the labor and leadership of our community while cultivating the next generation of land stewards.
Our work centers on:
- 🌿 Creating educational, skill-building, and leadership development opportunities
- 🌽 Increasing access to healthy, affordable food
- 🌻 Fostering positive, intergenerational community activity
- 🌍 Promoting dialogue about food access, neighborhood development, and environmental justice
We believe that stewarding the land is inseparable from stewarding community. At Whitelock, we are growing more than food—we are growing relationships, power, and possibilities.
