Community Pig Roast & Picnic

Please join Whitelock Community Farm for a pig roast and community picnic!

 In addition to roasting a pig, we have sides and a vegetarian option. Plates cost $10 and may be purchased at the event using cash or card.

There will also be a raffle with prizes from Race Pace Bicycles, the Wine Source, Brewers Art, Mend Acupuncture, the Station North Tool Library, and Huckle's Hot Sauce.

Preservation Workshop

Interested in canning, pickling, and fermenting?
Want to learn how to make your produce last longer? 
Join us for our Fourth Annual Preservation Workshop from 5:30-7:30 on Thursday August 31st!

This year we've got a great line up of instructors, who will be sharing recipes and resources for making juices, jams, sauces, quick pickles, and ferments!

There will be four demos with samples, two hands-on activities, and a take home instructional booklet with recipes. Each participant will have the opportunity to make and take home a small jar of pickles and kraut. 

$8 or $4 using an EBT card

We will be weeding and prepping farm beds for their second planting of the season, and redefining our pathways at the farm by laying woodchips. This activity will involve using hand tools and a broadfork to clear and aerate the soil. We will reference our composting system and methods for building healthy soil.

Come join us at the farm Saturday April 15th from 11am-1pm for a hands-on overview of growing and gardening techniques. We plan on covering planting dates for direct seeding and transplanting, container gardening, composting, soil amendments and naturals ways of keeping pests away. Participants will get informational packets to take home and a coupon for our upcoming plant sale on May 6th & 7th.

If there are additional topics you'd like us to cover, please let us know!

Are you already an avid gardener? We'd love your input!
This community class will involve plenty of time for questions and space for people to share what has worked well for them in their own gardens.

Join us at Whitelock Community Farm to celebrate the beauty of yourself and of our planet by practicing Yoga outside! All ages, and all levels are welcome.

Tinctures and Extracts: herbalism workshop! 

Tinctures and Extracts: Bring your own jar herbalism workshop!
Saturday, April 22nd 2017 (earth day!) 12:30PM-1:30PM

Join us at Whitelock Community Farm to learn about making tinctures, extracts, foraging herbs, and some medicinal properties of herbs. Please bring an air tight glass jar (4-8oz). 

This class is FREE, and you are welcome bring any herbs, fruits, and mushrooms (dried or fresh) that you are interested in making into an extract. Herbs and apple cider vinegar will be provided.

Half of the workshop will be an info session about various herbs and their properties, and the other half will a demonstration. The tinctures in this demo will be made with an apple cider vinegar solvent, and is therefore technically an extract.

If you are only interested in in the first or second half of the demo, feel free to only stay for that part!
